Ashley is the founder of
@fireworkpeople; a community + podcast for women who want to change the world. I have attended a few of the Twitterchats and look forward to attending some more. Ashley is kind, sweet and extremely smart. I feel blessed to be in her life and honored to do this interview. If you are not connected with Ashley yet on Twitter, do so now, @
Ashley and I share the same philosophy, which is….. START. You just have to start.
How did you get your start?
I just started. I just started creating. I started writing, blogging and creating communities by listening to the passion inside of me and taking action. It doesn’t matter the size of your audience or influence, just start.
How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
For me, I think so many of the seasons I’ve had in my life have helped me to do what I do today. Whether it was working for non-profits, in communications politically or working freelance — I’ve learned that every season counts. Every single place, every single job, every single relationship. It all counts, it all matters.
How do you define success as a business owner?
For me, success is serving people with the fullness of who I am and impacting lives. If finances or numbers never measure up, but I’ve changed or inspired lives, then that is success for me.
If you were to design the perfect team of 4 people to help you run this company, what characteristics would those four people have?
Definitely administrative, graphic design eye, event planner and a media expert. I am full-out a visionary that sometimes I drown in all those crazy details.
Whom do you seek advice from for your business?
Great question! I have a few people that I consistently seek advice or glean wisdom from personally or what they post online. The biggest lesson for me though has been learning how to follow my gut and listen to God (who I think is a freaking genius at business).
