I am honored to spend a few minutes today interviewing Charissa Moore.
Charissa is the creator of House of Bliss, creator of Blissboost and the host of #BlissChat on Twitter. Charissa has been a constant inspiration to me and others and I have privileged to spend a few minutes with her this morning! Get ready to be inspired by Charissa and make sure to attend her next Twitter chat!
How did you get your start?
I got started in April of 2014, writing for clients after launching my copywriting business. That love of marketing and writing combined generated a lot of questions from freelancers on social media, and soon, my twitter chat, #blisschat, was born! I’ve always loved writing, and slept with the dictionary as a child!
How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
I’ve always loved writing, and have been able to perceive thought through words for most of my life. I knew that if I could use writing and that skill of perception together to create value for my business, I could do it for others too. I launched my site, and got my first client four days later — and it hasn’t stopped.
How do you define success as a business owner?
Ooo, I love this question! For me, success is getting to do what you love every day. Sure, there are parts of business that I don’t necessarily love, but getting to write, teach my Blissboost students every day, and create amazing content (like our new Manifest Your Bliss course) for people all over the world. I knew when I launched my business that I wanted to travel, so I created a flexible business that would allow me to leave Denver whenever I wanted. It was awesome! Last year I took a 10-plane trip over a 12-week span, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. To me, that’s success.
If you were to design the perfect team of 4 people to help you run this company, what characteristics would those four people have?
Ooo! I have a team of two right now, so we’ll start there! House of Bliss’ Administrative Supervisor, Rachel, is the girl who keeps me on schedule. She’s the one making sure that this interview happened in my schedule! Hahaha. She manages my schedule and calendar, our support system, and generally helps with the administrative side of business. Our Community Manager, Lauren, is the face of House of Bliss’ welcoming team in the courses we have. I’m really big on community, so she’s really great at welcoming people, and making them feel really at home while in one of our programs, or in our Blissboost mastermind. Ideally, if I were to add to my team, it’d be someone local to me, in Denver, who can do things that Lauren and Rachel can’t do from a distance. Being a remote team is fun, but I’ll eventually add at least one team member here, so that we can collaborate together in person often.
Whom do you seek advice from for your business?
My mentor, Leonie Dawson, is amazing. She runs a mastermind as well, and is really great at implementing strategy with a heart behind it. She gets my heart-centered business, and conducts hers in the same way. I always say — don’t work with someone until you know who’s coaching them. This is why I’m very transparent about who is mentoring me — because I love her, and because my students should know, too!
