An Interview With Stefanie Flores

An Interview With Stefanie Flores

Have you ever woken up and looked forward to talking with someone online?  That is how I feel with Stefanie!  We connected on Twitter and Instagram a while back and have truly become friends.  Every day she makes an effort to say hi or ‘like’ a photo, she is someone who is constantly being a cheerleader, friend and mentor to me.  Next time I am in Vegas, I will be sure to look her up!

How did you get your start?
After the sudden death of my beagle, Pookie, last September I started journaling. I knew this was the momentum I needed to begin my writing career. I needed something to force me into a daily writing habit. I have a cousin that is a successful parenting blogger and she encouraged me to go for it! My long-term goal is to publish in Huffington Post and to write self-help books!

How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
Honestly, I learned a lot through Pinterest!! I read numerous blogs about how to get started and learned all the lingo before I actually signed up with my domain name!
I still lean on other bloggers to continue learning about this business. I attended a conference two weeks after I wrote my first post! I guess you can say I went in full speed ahead! I plan on attending the BlogHer conference in New York in July to continue to build my brand and learn from other entrepeneurs.

How do you define success as a business owner?
My mission is not dependent on financial success. Plain and simple, I want to help people. The tips and lessons I provide are to help people focus on themselves a little more. I want my readers to take better care of themselves and to change negative thinking patterns that are barriers to THEIR success. If readers are telling me that the blog posts helped them, then I consider myself a successful business owner.

If you were to design the perfect team of 4 people to help you run this company, what characteristics would those four people have?
First and foremost, I would need a talented photographer. My iPhone pictures need help! I have a DSLR camera on my wishlist this year! I would also benefit from a team with skills in creating visual content, managing analytics and graphic design. I spend the majority of my time on social media and I truly enjoy engaging in chats. I wouldn’t want to give that job to anyone else!!

Whom do you seek advice from for your business?
I have yet to seek out an official business mentor. I learn a lot through chats with mentors and career coaches. The blogging community has been so open and inviting, whether through Facebook groups or Twitter lists and chats. I feel very comfortable asking questions through these groups.

Xx, Kelly
